More

Modern Play Therapy (MPT) is an exciting new field exploring the application of traditional play therapy techniques and philosophies across the lifespan through the lenses of Interpersonal Neurobiology and Psychedelic Neuroscience.

MPT was established by Michele Galea Bertelle, a Registered Play Therapist with the national Association for Play Therapy, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist with Journey Clinical, and Continuing Education student with the Mindsight Institute.

Modern Play Therapy brings together an immense body of data on early childhood development and the therapeutic powers of play, with an emerging understanding of neuroplasticity and human growth/neurophysiological propagation across the lifespan. What MPT means at its core is that Mindfulness and Playfulness enhance us!

The field of Modern Play Therapy seeks to explore an evidence-based foundation that supports opportunities for MPT philosophies and techniques to be applied by professionals and non-professionals across a broad range of settings, with a diverse range of populations, for human enhancement of all kinds. There is currently much interest in the potential of MPT's contributions to psychotherapeutic, health/medical, educational, personal and community growth around the world.

Modern Influencers of Modern Play Therapy

Interpersonal Neurobiology

Cutting edge science demonstrates that neural integration – the linkage among differentiated aspects of the brain – allows for flexibility and adaptability, and expresses itself outwardly as harmony, kindness and compassion. When this groundbreaking neuroscience is merged with attachment theory, a fascinating inquiry continues about how the right hemispheres of our brains interact within the context of our interpersonal interactions to regulate our emotions and process our sense of self.
